Eye sketches

Quick reference-less demonstration on drawing eyes. I used this for my latest lecture.

We basically went over the basics of drawing animals, and I tried to give them some simple tools to use as well as a few things to always keep in mind... but we mostly kept it simple, and I let my students to a good amount of practice drawings. It was really interesting to see how some of them really caught on to what I was trying to teach them, and by the end of the lesson you could clearly see an improvement in technique. Too bad I only had a few hours, you can't really teach anybody much in that amount of time if you really want to TEACH them... but I think I made my point about keeping things simple and so on. After lunch they did life studies from some cool animals (a centipede, a scorpion, a corn snake, a gecko, another lizard wich name I can't remember, a greek land turtle I think and a tarantula-like spider). It was cool.

This eye demonstration was just to give them a break from the basics since it can get a bit boring... I had them guess with eye belonged to wich creature and they got it right, then we discussed differences and why animals have certain similarities, and the other way around while they could do some small copies of the drawings. We spoke about carnivores and herbivores, trademarks of each - and how there's almost always exceptions to the... oh I got to stop doing this. I can go on FOREVER about this stuff, haha.
