I tend to be very generous about letting people use my work. All I demand is that you ask for my permission BEFORE you use something, and that you don't go around claiming my work as yours just straight off. I've let people copy my artwork, manipulate my photos, post my original works together with their poetry and so on and it's never really been any serious problems.

Until now.

I got a note about a day ago from a fellow deviant who had found my most popular piece - the wolf portrait - in another deviants gallery, the signature edited out and the saturation slightly changed but still MY WORK. This person claimed (and still claims) that this is his/her original work, making up some kind of background story saying it was drawn back in 98 or whatever, having taken the reference shot themselves and so on. It's a blatant lie, I have the reference in a drawer even after all these years... I can show it to anyone who wishes to see it.

Anyway, I reported the incident and DA removed their artwork. A day later the deviant posted a 'new' version, this time she or he has used what I am for obvious reasons guessing is another deviants work manipulated to fit with my drawing (and the left side is still all my work, just mirrored and inverted with some other shitty standard filter added). I doubt she has permission to use the other deviants drawing but I haven't been able to find the original artist so I am calling out to you guys since I know a lot of you love wolves and art involving them... hopefully one of you will recognise the artist who did the face for the right part of the deviation found here :

alizarin-crimson.deviantart.co…

Please help me find the original artist so that he or she may report this. If you open the "drawing" in PS and change the contrast/brightness you can see what a sloppy editing job it is, even a part of the signature is left in the corner... sheesh...

Pretty crappy manipulation job for a photo manipulator (wich the deviant is, based on the rest of the gallery)

It is sad to see someone insisting on claiming my work for their own with such intensity, it's almost as if he or she believes it him/herself. And funny how all it would have taken to avoid this mess is a simple note asking 'may I use your work', and perhaps a bit of CREDIT.

Yeah, don't piss me off...

Dammit, hate it when that happens :( It's obviously your work too, and if anyone doubts, try putting them ontop of each other in Photoshop and see what happens XD
